IPs were first introduced within FP6, and usually have a budget of over 10M€.">IP</acronym></a> is an Integrated Project partly funded by the European Commission’s 6th framework program, under the priority 2.3.2.9 "Improving Risk Management". <p/> ORCHESTRA has designed and implemented the specifications for a service oriented spatial data infrastructure for improved interoperability among risk management authorities in Europe, which will enable the handling of more effective disaster risk reduction strategies and emergency management operations. The ORCHESTRA Architecture is open and based on standards. Its specifications are contained in a document called the Reference Model–ORCHESTRA Architecture (<a class="glossary-term" href="http://www.sany-ip.org/glossary#term88"><acronym title="RM-OA: [ORCHESTRA] Reference Model for the ORCHESTRA Architecture">RM-OA</acronym></a>) which is open and free of charge, and can be downloaded from <a href="/go/www.eu_orchestra.org/publications.shtml" >ORCHESTRA web site</a> <h3>ORCHESTRA Impacts</h3> In addition to delivering technical results such as the RM-OA, and prototype services and applications, <a class="glossary-term" href="http://www.sany-ip.org/sany_acronyms/orchestra_ip"><acronym title="ORCHESTRA IP: [ORCHESTRA] Open Architecture and Spatial Data Infrastructure for Risk Management Integrated Project. This has been done by integrating the results and recommendations of previous and current European and National projects and initiatives, thus harmonising the technical underpinning of Risk Management. <p/> ORCHESTRA established a cooperation network with nearly twenty on-going projects and initiatives, including projects not funded by the EC and projects outside Europe and provided valuable input to the INSPIRE (through its Drafting Teams) and <a class="glossary-term" href="http://www.sany-ip.org/glossary#term182"><acronym title="Kopernikus: Kopernikus, formerly known as GMES, is a European initiative which will provide us with the tools to improve our environment and will help us keeping our planet safe and healthy. In addition, there is a large overlap between these two domains, which means that many of the generic services developed by ORCHESTRA can be easily re-used in environmental monitoring.
