actRED 08, the first International Workshop on Advanced Communication Technologies for Risk, Emergency and Disaster Management, was held in Cannes, France, 15 September 2008, as a PIMRC 08 pre-Conference Workshop. The main objective of the full-day Workshop was to pass in review advanced communication technologies and systems, as well as solutions, in support of Risk, Emergency and Disaster Management, as well as Early Warning and Disaster Recovery.
