Abstract:
The Service Support Environment (SSE) is a Web-based environment providing an EO data access layer allowing an easy integration of data catalogues (SPOT Image, MUIS, etc.) and EO services using open standards such as XML, BPEL, WSDL and SOAP etc.
SSE simplifies the instantiation of complex workflows of loosly coupled services, and publishing of the resulting applications on the web.
To achieve this goal, SSE supports the Service Oriented Architecture paradigm and facilitates the integration of Web services. This approach allows to expose spatio-temporal functionalities in a modular fashion. The service provider decides which functionalities will be offered at the service level as individual Web services or got aggregated at a single interface. This approach fosters:
Development of reusable services
Avoids dublication of frequently used processing software
Allows combination of arbitrary services to business process ("Orchestration")
Notes:
In SANY, Spacebel (SPB) developed SSE clients for all SensorSA services. The result is currenlty accessible only for the members of SANY consortium, but the SPB intends to open up this portal for third parties after the project end. Operational EO/SSE portal can be reached at following location:
