WorkshopORCHESTRA and SANY in DEWS2010-01-18 11:00 2010-01-20 18:00 Etc/GMT+1 On this workshop, Sascha Schlobinski and Martin Scholl performed an ORCHESTRA and SANY training for DEWS members. ORCHESTRA concepts and architecture is communicated and SANY results are discussed. Main goal is how DEWS can benefit from ORCHESTRA and SANY results. Marine Pollution Risk Management Workshop2009-12-02 12:00 2009-12-02 17:30 Etc/GMT
Developments in low-cost sensing technology, coupled with advanced IT and communications, have allowed novel decision support techniques to be deployed. This workshop will present these advances and their practical application to shellfishery management, and explore how these can assist operations within a challenging regulatory environment. Registration: Please follow this link to register

The workshop will focus on the following topics:
Travel times Monitoring for HGV and tolling Data quality and monitoring of speeds Strategies and evaluation in monitoring Traffic and weather monitoring
From GIS & Sensor Data to Web Maps (Training)2009-04-06 09:00 2009-04-06 17:00 Etc/GMT+2 This hands-on training will cover the complete cartographic workflow for the Web:
map service creation with "Publish to Web" plugin; advanced representation with cartographic rules; creating more expressive maps with cartographic rules defining patterns for spatial features, SVG point symbols, and diagrams; accessing and symbolizing sensor data with colour maps and contours The training will take place at the Institute of Cartography, ETH Zurich VENUE: http://www.karto.ethz.ch/about/howtofind/index_EN The software used during the training is free (open source) and can be taken home by participants at the end of the day. Training is free of charge, within the limit of available places. Participants are kindly asked to register per e-mail and organise their own accommodation. Environmental Risk Management tools for water quality monitoring2009-03-30 09:00 2009-03-30 17:00 Etc/GMT+2 The workshop in conjunction with Ocean Business 2009 event (http://www.oceanbusiness.com) will give an Workshop objectives
management Identification of users’ requirements for applications of environmental information from in situ stations, buoys, aircraft and satellite sensors and modelling predictions for risk management Live demonstration of current systems and services Round table discussion with prospective users, focusing on contributions meeting the information needs of the Water Framework Directive. SP5 v1 demo and "Marine Environmental Risk Management" workshop2008-09-24 12:00 2008-09-24 17:00 Europe/London
"Marine Environmental Risk Management" workshop intends to showcase the state of the art and emerging capabilities in Marine Environmental Risk Management and to highlight opportunities for the development of future applications. LINK: Workshop registration The workshop is hosted by Marine South East, and partly supported by the SANY project and bythe South East of England Development Agency through its Environmental Decision Support Network (EDSnet). EDSnet is a knowledge network aimed at promoting collaborations between the knowledge base and business in the field of marine environmental monitoring. See attached document for registration form.
Building environmental monitoring systems with SensorSA2009-02-11 09:00 2009-02-12 18:00 Europe/Vienna Sensor Service Architecture (SensorSA) developed by SANY IP allows building of complete Environmental Monitoring Networks (EMNs) from standard-compliant components. This training will teach the participants which SensorSA-compliant software components are available, and how to configure and deploy them. Furthermore, the workshop will show how OGC Sensor Web Enablement services are used within SensorSA, and how to build a complete SensorSA-compliant Environmental Monitoring Network. Some highlights:
Sensor data in INSPIRE context (Katharina Schleidt/UBA) SensorSA compliant client applications (Marco Hugentobler/ETHZ) SensorSA catalogue (Désirée Hilbring/IITB) SOS data import and export (Thomas Ponweiser/ARC) SensorSA compliant Data acquisition system (Mihai Bartha/ARC). Data flow optimization and pre-processing with Cascading SOS (Thomas Bleier/ARC) User management and authorization in sensor service networks (Schlobinski/EIG) LINK: Registration Most of the software used on this training event is available (as open source) either from 52 north, or from the SANY consortium. Workshop participants will be given a chance to get a hands-on experience with the software during the workshop, and to continue experimenting with it at home. Please bring a laptop with you. SANY consortium warns the participants that the software developed within SANY is considered experimental, and therefore not fit for immediate commercial deployment.
SSE & SANY workshop 082008-10-28 12:00 2008-10-30 16:00 Etc/GMT+2
To overcome this problem and be ready to face new challenges - in particular set by the GMES perspective - ESA is currently running projects aimed at integrating new EO services, from multiple sources and providers, into the Service Support Environment (SSE), a neutrally managed, open and distributed platform that streamlines the definition and prototyping of EO and Geospatial Information Services. In order to maximize the return from this initiative, ESA wishes to invite current and potential Service Providers to a dedicated workshop to draw lessons learnt from previous experiences and prepare the next activities to come by looking at International scenarios and perspectives. To this effect the 2008 SSE SPs workshop will be extended to host the Sensors Anywhere (SANY) workshop.
