SANY Sensors Anywhere

The concrete results of the SANY project will be:

• Standards proposals covering the architecture and the interfaces of sensor networks for the domain of environmental risk management. SANY will directly contribute to standardisation efforts in the relevant standards bodies including OGC SWE.
  
• An on-demand environment to access GMES information and services, which will be an integration of SANY results for sensor networks, the ORCHESTRA service oriented architecture (SOA) and the MASS/SSE platform, and used for validating and improving the standard proposals.

  This environment includes:

  • standard interoperability interfaces;
    
  • a generic architecture for risk management service networks based on ORCHESTRA;
    
  • a software platform, which will inherit from past and current research projects (in particular from MASS/SSE) and integrate features developed by the SANY project;
    
  • generic tools and services implementing the standardised interfaces with in-situ networks as well as with earth observation sources;
    
  • generic tools and services for data fusion;
    
  • generic tools and modules to allow the implementation of decision support systems.

  It will have the following characteristics:

  • open service integration framework based on industry standards from W3C, OASIS, ISO and OGC;
    
  • standard-based workflow capabilities, including publishing and monitoring service execution;
    
  • ad-hoc service discovery;
    
  • user management, authorisation and security;
    
  • standard interfaces for catalogues and on-line data access;
    
  • access to integrated third-party services already covering earth observation based services, GIS services and earth observation catalogues.

Thus SANY will directly contribute to IST priority 2.5.12 and at the same time go considerably beyond its immediate objectives.
